The reason Squidoo pages often ranked higher than your own website for the same keyword search terms is that the Squidoo domain has millions of pages, millions of backlinks pointing to it, and is 8 years old (as of Aug 2011). However, the pages that get good traffic in Squidoo follow the same rules as getting good traffic outside of Squidoo - you have to write about a topic that has lots of traffic and low competition. Then Squidoo shares Adsense revenue with you (Top 85,000 Squidoo pages earn ad revenue), and ALL squidoo pages get commissions on any Amazon, Ebay, Zazzle, or Cafepress items sold from your Squidoo page. If nothing else, set up a Squidoo page just to get 4.25% commissions on products YOU BUY for yourself from eBay.
