Squidoo Benefits – why it is worth setting up a lens or two
Squidooo is just one of the many new innovative web 2.0 methods to get some extra traffic to your web pages.
But you need to understand how Squidoo can help. It may appear on the surface you are just helping Squidoo but it really helps you too… There are benefits.
Andrew wrote with concerns about Squidoo.
In case you didn’t get my email, I created a squidoo page… However, I’m a little unsure as to where to go from there… and really, what’s the big deal? My Squidoo page presently has a Pagerank 0…am I supposed to build that up? And if I do, all I can see is Squidoo picking up adsense…what’s really the benefit for me?
First off – squidoo has juice – power – clout with Goo - their pages will rank very easily on top for things that you do not even try to rank for – that is – if you have words on your page – THAT can send you traffic you may not have gotten otherwise.
IF you link to their pages a few times you’ll boost the chance that page will rank top ten. It’s far easier to rank top ten with their page than to start a brand new site and get top ten. Why not have their page and YOUR page in the top ten???
Squidoo is a great place to get free RELEVANT on topic links pointing at your article pages. That’s a great opprtunity for you. That’s the secret… relevant links from relevant pages…
Second – if you link to your web sites or better yet RELEVANT article web pages – you’ll get a boost from having a juicy relevant link with the text you’re going after rankings
THIRD – squidoo is exposure – it helps establish you as an expert (if you want that) and lends credibility to yor business – LASTLY – if you want – you can donate the adsense or other earnings from your lens to charity or take apercentage for yourself. They give you part of what the lens earns.
Squidoo is just one of many things you can do to improve the traffic you get. It’s not a mandatory thing but the whole point of web 2.0 is offering value and getting your FANS to help you spread the word. If Squidoo brings you fans it may be worth the time it takes to create a page there and link it in a few places.

“Andrew” here. Thanks for the post Mike…and if I may, I’d like to clarify a couple without being SPAMMY. Please feel free to edit or delete this if that is so!
I’m using Squidoo as a test to promote a product Xango
http://www.squidoo.com/xangoblog/
(Mike generously voted the page 5 stars)…and I now have my Squidoo link on my “Andrew’s other sites” on every page of my Xango blog http://mistermangosteen.blogspot.com/ + a Xango affiliate link after every post.
Would it be better to swap them around…and have the Squidoo link after every post instead? Would that add “juice”
Also, what about the idea of using the Squidoo link on any articles I write about Xango?
Is it counter-prductive to put a dot.com name on a Squidoo page?
Comments? thoughts?

Well, with that overwhelming response…I thought I’d add a bit more.
I’ve spent the last couple of days developing the Squidoo page…and discovered something very interesting.
Today, just a few days after launching my Squidoo lens, I’m #1 for “Xango Squidoo” on Google. Now I realise this isn’t a popular keyword…but the #2 spot…is now ranking on page 4 for “Xango”…which is much more competitive.
(It’s got an RSS feed which may be helping)
In a couple of days I’m going post my Xango Squidoo page on the AU blogs…and with those links…they might be able to pull my Squidoo lens into “Xango” search contention.
After AU, I’ll do a few network marketing articles and see what happens.

Continuing my thread for one, this is the end of Squidoo Phase 1 and I’m very pleased, as is Google. Read all about it!

Don’t use squidoo.com. I wrote several lenses and followed all the rules. Then after a few months, I noticed that they nofollowed my links AND gave them to my competitors! So after spending the time writing an article, my competitor gets the benefit, not me.

Hi.. Just found your page while searching for Squidoo marketing ideas. What do you think about this? My first lens is set up for someone new to personal training and looking for a PT. My second page I’m setting up I think should be for my present clients, who are not interested in my “sales pitch” but are more interested in news, tips and fitness info. Is that a good plan?

Thanks for the great content and information. I am always browsing the internet looking for good content to get ideas for my easy home based business blogs and articles. You have some real good content here so just keep on doing what you are doing as good stuff like this is always hard to find.

Wow – thanks for sharing info with some depth from the standpoint of an average joe. I have to admit I still haven’t figured out the adsense part – I’m just starting out but I feel like I am exactly where you started. I wanted to try some googlepages but they put an end to that.
I’m still hopeful though. Thank you again. People like you make all the frustration a little easier to take. Best Wishes to you as well!
