Squidoo and RSS - be sure to look at the code

Squidoo and RSS - All is not as it seems - so be sure to look at the code!

The source code of your squidoo lens pages that is! (go to “Page Source” or “View source” in your browser)

I just realized that the lenses on which I have added RSS Feeds do NOT pass any benefit to the links from the feeds - in fact - it is not even search engine friendly.

What does that mean? Well - all it means is that when you have squidoo show your RSS feeds - the squidoo pages do NOT show any of the words from what it displays - if that’s not bad enough it does not even have the URLs on the page with a “nofollow” - it’s simply code gobblygook and has no seo benefit whatsoever.

That means that Google will NOT see any fresh new words as the RSS feeds change and they will not see the links in the feed items presented.

BUMMER!

Squdioo would have been a great place to get some link  juice with RSS and at the very least adding RSS feeds would have been a great way to add DYNAMIC content to squidoo lens pages so the content on thepages change as the feeds do - BUT NO!

So… if you want link juice passed - simply HARD CODE the links into your TEXT that you write for your lens. By hard code I mean make sure YOU link what you want yourself and do not count on squidoo to do the right thing!

Hot Tip: Hey - here is a nugget for reading down to the bottom of this page > get some good link juice from your RSS feeds at rss2 . >>> EXAMPLE PAGE with TV Robot Feeds - simply submit your site URL or FEED URL and they’ll parse your feed and display links to all your pages! Hows that for service! That’s more like the way it should be!
