Thanks Mike, you let us know, and I definately taking full advantage.
For anyone reading this, I have several sites I am going to list here. An affiliate site I have is , which actually is a really cool product. A great gift for graduates to take to college, and also for us internet marketers to make presentations or just take great notes to play back later.
I am starting on a new track now, so is my social media site. And along with that, I am going to start working on . If anyone has any questions or comments, let me know!!
Best of luck!

This is good info and explains some things that I questioned. Just curious…does frequent commenting make a blog more favorable in Google’s eyes?

Where it says “leave a comment” it shows the CODE you are allowed to use – if you use nonconventional code it will likely get “stripped” as you said. Simply add your links in teh proper format.

Instructions are on the plugin page – but here they are – just in case
Download dofollow.php at http://kimmo.suominen.com/sw/dofollow/ and save it (right click to save as) in the wp-content/plugins directory of your WordPress installation.
Activate the DoFollow plugin in the Plugins admin page.
yourdomain/wp-admin/wp-content/plugins
Once activated, the plugin provides a DoFollow subpage in the Options page.
It will show you the current operating mode in addition to the configuration options.
The plugin and instructions are at:

Thanks Mike and just a bit of extra info for the couple of people who find this and other plugins hard to get installed. The best thing I do now when I set up a new blog is to first install the plugin written by Janis Elts.
Its a plugin to install plugins and it makes this stuff stunningly simple. Just go to the wordpress directories page and search for one click installer and you’ll find it makes life much easier.
Thanks for the info Mike and Im off to also check out the list of dofollow blogs.

I personally experienced the dofollow wordpress plugin for one of my popular blogs, the result was a drop in page views, meaning the increase in spamming visitors. After getting the point, I removed the plugin and got back to nofollow attribute.

Thanks for the great mail. Really enjoyed it. Now, I was really excited at first about the dofollow plugin for WP, but after preliminary testing I had the same experience as “knee length formal dresses” wrote in his/her comment – I actually had a significant drop of page views too. But I’m still testing. Wish me luck.

Thank you so much for this Mike! This is such an easy solution and you can easily turn off the dofollow if the spammers happen to descend. Although, I’m a bit worried after the drop in page views that people are posting about. But I will give it a shot.

Comment by Kenny W. — July 26, 2009 @ 4:06 am
I have been following this dofollow topic accross the net and still am undecided. It seems anyone who uses the plugin, gets targetted by spammers, and the more popular your blog and better it is in SEO the worse it gets.
I am curious does this plugin allow you to click to enable dofollow or disable it on a per comment basis? This would be valuable but not if its either all dofollow or all nofollow.

I have had this plugin installed for sometime now and I love it.
It would be nice if there was a feature within WP that you could switch on/off DoFollow. Maybe even an option to set a total number of comments before link would be DoFollow. Something to that affect.

Comment by Do Follow — September 4, 2009 @ 4:15 pm
yep! most of them got turned back to no follow co of spamming, one should realize that posting relevant comment will be really appreciated, too much of posting non-relevant comments would eventually force blog owner to turn it into a no follow one

The simple fact that a website is dofollow draws people to it. You post something somewhere saying, free dofollow backlinks and boom, you get a ton of traffic, comments, and everyone gets something out of the transaction.

One of the first WordPress dofollow plugins, DoFollow has evolved into a highly flexible method for nofollow removal. The admin option page is clear, simple, and provides granular control over all options. This plugin is ideal for users of all experience levels and provides control over many important aspects of dofollow strategy. Excellent for distinguishing between comment links, trackbacks, and pingbacks. Highly recommended.

I think wordpress by default places nofollow attribute to its comments and thereby not giving any link juice to commenter’s URL or website which I think is not fair. Google as we all know gives credit to link juice pass-on from one site to another as a vote provided that site is trusted by Google.
Comment by joomla components — October 19, 2009 @ 7:57 am
I agree. I think wordpress needs to set the default as dofollow. Sure it may increase comment spam but it ill also increase the number of good comments. Some administration and the comment spam can be fought.
Comment by ISO 9001 Accreditation — December 14, 2009 @ 2:49 am
The do follow plugin is a lifesaver to all the SEO workers! it makes life a lot more easier now that you can directly identify do folows and no do follows!

Hi Mike
Very good tip!
I’ve always known the importance of commenting on sites with the DoFollow tag but never considered using it on my own site.
If putting the dofollow tag on my site can get more traffic and make it more sticky then that’s something to consider.
Comment by Dan — February 2, 2010 @ 8:49 pm
Great work. DoFollow blogs have certainly the best comments and feed backs than NoFollow blogs. Simply because anyone who comments would want to have something in return for the comment they have made. The best way to give them that is by having a DoFollow blog.
Comment by Skid Steers for Sale — February 2, 2010 @ 11:34 pm
By advertising your blog as a “DO follow” blog, you are encouraging others to comment, it’s that simple I guess

Recently, while deliberating an optimal method for eliminating nofollow link attributes from Perishable Press, I collected, installed, tested and reviewed every WordPress no-nofollow/dofollow plugin that I could find. As of the writing of this post, I have evaluated 12 15 dofollow plugins, all of which are freely available on the Internet.
