Once again, a good old fashioned link strategy's value is proven. Keep the links alive, and the right people will find you.

From what I am hearing and have experienced myself - newer sites that had 0 PR or 1 or 2 VERY EASILY jumped up 2 or 3 or 4 PR.

I myself have some brand new sites that were 0 jump up to PageRank 4.

I think that makes sense because the difference between a 1 and 2 is less than the difference between a 5 and a 6 - even more so is the difference between a 7 and an 8 etc.

It's logarhythmic (don't ask me to explain that! I hate MATH!)

The bottom line is - IT is ALWAYS harder to jump up in PageRank the higher your page is - so if you have a PR 5 - it is very hard to get it to 6 - where it is very EASY to get a 0 to 4 or a 1 to a 3 etc. - Make sense?

Lower PageRank pages can be boosted easily - higher PageRank pages are harder to bump up a point or two.

By the way - I have seen a few guru friends of mine have their sites drop from 6 to 5... it really is a global thing that I believe is affected the higher end of things - PR 5 and higher need to work harder to stay or jump higher in PageRank.

I wondered already what was going on but my experience was different.

All my pretty new little niche sites gained PR, just one stayed the same. One three week old niche site went from 0 to 3. An older one which I did not update since months from 3 to 4. All others from 0 to 2 or 3.

Quite happy and surprised with that but I ask myself why I earn this. These are really little niche sites with just a few pages and a few backlinks....

It seems I am being misunderstood. I have only checked a few of my sites - not all of them - I checked a handful. Overall I have gained PageRank as I now have MORE WEB SITES. But a few of the PR 6 and PR 5 sites went down - not all - a few - and ALL that were 0 went up. Some that were PR 5 and 6 stayed the same.

I'll give a better evaluation when I have analyzed more sites but from the people I have talked to the general consensus is that a lot of more established sites with higher PR have dropped. Something is causing the adjustment. What it is nobody knows for sure!

I never said that ALL sites went down - I'm sure some went up and some stayed the same - but I have noticed BIG popular sites that were PR 6 and higher drop. GoArticles is a big one.

I'm not worried and I am not crying but it does appear from what I can tell that MORE sites went DOWN than went up - not just mine - the ones I have looked at.

Mike,

I ran and checked my sites after receiving your email.

Don't want to jinx myself but all my pr 4 sites stayed the same; two of my pr 3 sites went to pr 4; two pr 0 went to pr 1.

Go figure.

P.S. I don't sell any links and don't link directly between the sites on the same server. Don't know if this means anything.

I still say it doesn't matter.

There is still this one darn site that is smoking me in ranking for a keyword with a pr1 and my site is a pr4 with a ton of high pr links for that keyword and that site has almost no links reported in the top 3 search engines...
