Fluctuating Rankings on Google

Rankings fluctuate more on new sites that have not yet earned authority status.

It’s pretty normal for a new site to go up in rankings and then come back down. It’s not unusual.

The best way to get your site to stabilize is by earning trust as explained in my new article Fluctuating Rankings

Stop by and check out the article and if you can please leave a comment!

Also, in case you missed it – I posted the replay from the “Achieving Critical Mass ” webinar event along with a special double bonus offer when you join Blogging Underground.

I originally put a deadline on the webinar special offer, but as several of you have asked about it – so I am extending the special webinar offer and double bonus.

If you take advantage of either the Quarterly deal – or join the Annual Deal i will give you double the PLR Article Zips. Simply join Blogging Underground and send me a support ticket and I will hook you up with the coupons to go select your bonus zips from the Underground PLR Back Issue Store!

  1. Fluctuating on rankings means that you need to do more link building on your site and check your competitor’s on what they are doing. Creating fresh content will add rank too.

  3. Fluctuating rankings on Google is very normal. I used to check twice when taking the ranking report of my site. So, when I check for the first time, if it’s 2, then the second time it’ll jump to 1 or down to 5 or 6. It’s very difficult to understand Google rankings strategy.

  4. Fluctuation of ranking for any of your keywords in Google is quite common. At the initial stage you might see top ranking and few days’ later you can see a bit drop! This thing also known as ‘Google dance’ generally seen in new websites. But once Google understands your trustworthiness you’ll then get a fixed ranking.

  7. Mike!

I just read your fluctuating rankings post. Really enjoyed it, and I totally agree with you about the fact the rankings can go mad at the start of having a site up. When I first started out I remember my rankings going a tad strange, this may have been due to the amount of backlinks I made in a day, then left it for a few weeks. I was very unaware at the time of natural and effective SEO tactics.

But now I realise the best ways to stabilize my sites, letting them grow naturally and offering truthful and valuable content.

  9. I still don’t understand fluctuating or the “google dance” as some call it. I have some websites that have hundreds of backlinks and they can’t seem to keep a steady position in search engines. But then I have one or two sites that have zero backlinks and have a steady hold on the number one position. Just luck, or is there some secret to fluctuating?

  10. Rank fluctuation in Google is something seo experts and website owners are always afraid of. Many businesses rely on their Google ranking for customers and a sudden drop can pretty much bring the entire business to a halt. The famous panda update last year led to many sites loosing significantly. I guess the ranking changes is well intentioned but should be less drastic in my opinion.
