Big Money Blogs and My Success Strategy

I have some killer training at Blogging Underground to build blogs that make money and I call it the 12 Step Success Strategy.

From time to time members ask questions and I will also share them here on my Internet Marketing Blog. Check out some recent advice. I think you’ll get some good tips to help you build blogs that make money!

Is it good to start off a new site with a bang and add LOTS of content very quickly???

As I show in the 12 Step Success Strategy training I prefer to do things over time. Ideally you add pages 1 at a time – get your links – add more over time – so there is consistent growth.

I have added MANY pages to a site in the past but they usually get sandboxed. I have seen the slow and steady way works better – they usally do not have any trouble. You slowly gain trust and that MAGIC happens more and easier as you gain trust and establish your reputation as being solid and good.

Once you stop fluctuating you can add more faster and break more rules – but a new site needs to earn trust – old sites that have done evil things also may trigger alarms.

Contribute your BLOG to the BU announcement blogs network!

It’s easy! You can have BU members posting high quality content that will keep your blog FRESH and bring more traffic from more top rankings! DO IT! You’ll be glad you did!

Will there be a sandbox effect if you follow the 12 Step Success Stratgey training?

There should be no sandbox effect if you are follwoing the 12 steps and not hammering anything or blasting.

You need to go easy and let the site earn trust and move up on it’s own instead of trying to force it.

Show growth and keep it fresh but don’t hammer in the early days.

Keep in mind if you link in the BU blogs it takes time for ALL of the URLS with your links on them to show.

So even though you may only add 3 POSTS in the BU Blog Network – each post will give you 5 to 8 URL’s on the announcement blog domain with your links on them (that’s what you get per post)! THEN over time as the URL’s all get indexed (category pages – tag pages, archives etc.)  you should have steady growth up to a total of 20 or 25 links – JUST from those 3 posts.

See – one announcement post will give you more than just 1 link.

Pretty cool, eeh?

BUT you can’t sit back or your site will get stale. Links will stop coming in.

Then – over time – some of those will naturally drop out of the index – unless you keep new backlinks coming in they’ll see some disappear.

That’s why the new content needs to be added over time and new links added over time. So there is momentum and growth over time.

Some sites get to #5 fast other sites sit at #51 for a long time – but eventually all of them will start to gain magic if you do enough of the right things and NONE of the wrong things.

Do you have an exact time or number of pages to expect success or give up on trying?

I usually have many sites vying for my attention and I spend the most time on the ones that are returning the most.

If a site doesn’t make a lot of money, it still can be used for backlinks as a feeder site.

The idea is to throw a lot out there and see if any of them rise to the top. Those are the ones you work on the most.

I don’t usually ever abandon a site – however I do end up with a lot of stagnant or stale sites – mostly temp pages stuck on that 1 ugly home page – but – even though they may be stale – they are still earning TRUST by gaining AGE and NOT doing evil things – so those sites could always be turned into something.

I don’t throw any sites away just because I have neglected them. AGE has value too.

NOW – if you do get a site and get lots of top rankings but NO TRAFFIC – then that’s a loser – or if you do get a LOT of traffic but get NO SALES or clicks – that’s a loser.

It’s up to you whether you’d rather FIX it or move on. I usually move on. It’s easier to find that new big money site that HITS IT BIG FAST AND EASY than FORCE a dud site to be something it doesn’t want to be.

  1. Hey Mike

Quite a few of our team members have been long time customers of AU and can attest to the power of your strategy. I admit, I’ve tried to speed up the process on some personal projects of mine (what SEO wouldn’t try right? hehe) and only come to the same conclusion as you’ve mentioned here in this post.

Anyways, as you’ve said many times before, give the search engines what they want…fresh content and consistent backlinks (nothing too crazy) will get us the results we are looking for :)

Thanks for providing such a top notch service!

    Regards,
    Mark

  3. Many fall into the trap of generating content as many as they could in the hope that it would gain more attention rather than going slow. It’s been proven that a slow but steady process is way better, especially when trying to establish a new website. Good tips here!

  5. Link building may be very effective for SEO but SEO, in my opinion, can take a while to see any results. To speed up the process, consider media buying (buying banner ads) or buying email/solo/ezine ads related to your topic for a possible rush of traffic, leads, and/or sales.

  8. Great tips here Mike! I agree that new content needs to be added on a daily basis to enable growth. But the content needs to be informative and should contain fresh SEO for long-term stability. SEO, however, may take some time to generate results so other options like article directories submission and ads posting would also be helpful.

  9. Keeping that in mind, more = better typically. Bigger results = do more. IE: Make more blogs, add more monetization. etc

  24. As a keen blogger myself, I would like to say that the effort required to run a successful blog should not be under estimated. From my experience, it takes many years to build a profitable blog. Maybe, others are luckier than me, but I have been working on my blog for 2 years now. Although, I can now see the potential for success some day, I think it will take me another 2 years before I can make a full time income from blogging.

  30. I think adding quality content regularly and consistently is very helpful. Also it’s important to do keyword research and planning at the beginning before you start a blog. Use keywords with adequate search volume for your content. Then use SEO to drive traffic to your blog.

    Comment by Janus — March 19, 2012 @ 9:32 pm

  31. What do you think is better, adding new content or using the time to build more backlinks. Surely, one can argue that both steps need to be done. But in practice I think there are bound to be trade-offs as we have limited resources at hand. I have been blogging for just over two years now. At first my main focus was SEO so I was mainly writing content with this in mind and spending most of my time on obtaining links. However for the past year I have almost stopped link building. Instead I use all my time for writing quality posts without worrying too much about SEO.

  32. Lovely tips. How come I’ve only ran across these now? One of my older blogs (well, not old-old, but a blog a started back in 2007) died due to lack of traffic. Just wasn’t worth keeping anymore because no one was reading. I still have a couple blogs. I might try some of these tips. Thanks again, Mike!
