Blogging Underground Pre-Launch Buzz!
Wow! The official grand opening launch of Blogging Underground is less than 2 days away (It opens on Tuesday April 26th, 2011).

This launch thing is very exciting and I don’t really know what to expect – but of the pre-launch buzz is any indication – this thing could really go nuclear! So to be safe – I’m doing everything I can to make sure we can expand resources and handle the traffic!

Q: I just saw in your blog that you are going to limit how many members you are going to accept after you re-open and also that you will be raising the price. Is this for real or just a marketing ploy to get me to join now and if so – how many members are you going to accept before closing it and WHEN will the price go up? I need to know something more specific.
A: Great question! I can appreciate how you might be skeptical with all the marketing products out there creating FALSE urgency and scarcity so you buy their stuff. I’m not doing that! It really is very likely we’re going to shut the doors again – most likely soon – but I can’t put a number on it or give it a date. It’d be a fake number if I did that.
I have to say that because I want to be up front and let everyone know we do NOT have an unlimited capacity. There is a limit to how many members we can serve at a premium level and I know we’re going to hit it – I just can’t say we’re there until we get to that point.
All I can say is that we have a killer set up which is running very well and I know we can serve a large number of new members, but – if things get weird or too crowded or unmanageable I am fully prepared to stop accepting new members when I see the resources are being stretched thin.
The first step will be increasing the price – so those that really NEED to get in won’t be locked out. But shortly after doing that the doors will need to be closed.
If you dig what we have – I suggest you join now to lock in the best price and if you ever need to cancel – that’s cool – we won’t delete any of your links or data – and we’ll keep a spot open for you at the same price when you’re ready to come back.

Clickbank Banned Countries List
OK, I finally found it… I was given this list by Clickbank as countries that they would NOT accept payments from.
In other words – this is a list of countries you do not want to buy advertising for because customers in these countries will NOT be able to purchase a product through Clickbank.
This CB banned country list is current as far as I am aware, but there MIGHT be new countries added and possibly a few of these are no onger “banned” from buying Clickbank products.
Ask your Clickbank rep for an OFFICIAL list of countries you can’t sell products in if you want a current accurate list.

Adsense Money or Affiliate Commissions?
Should you promote Adsense ads or affiliate products?
Or should you add an affiliate offer in addition to placing Adsense ads on your site?
I just posted an article on the Blogging Underground forum that has some great info on monetization and how to get really big paydays by promoting a product or offer on your web sites.

It all started with a BU member asking about all the gurus out there complaining about losing their Adsense accounts.
I answered his question about whether he should be “really careful” and it led to some great ideas about how you can make a lot of money by also promoting affiliate products that match the content of your web pages.
It requires a little extra effort – but the big paydays are usually worth it!
Adsense is great for a lazy quick buck here and there – it really can’t be beat for ease of use – but the big money often comes when you create a keyword targeted web page that gets a top ranking for an exact match keyword and then gets a ton of traffic – and – WHEN you have a perfectly matched affiliate product that is prominently featured on the page – well – that’s a GRAND SLAM HOME RUN! Super Affiliate Marketing and Higher Commissions
Do you want to be a super affiliate?
An Article Underground member just sent me an email with a few questions about affiliate programs, high ticket items and Adsense. I thought I’d share the info with you guys as well!
“Can you make more money with higher ticket items/higher payouts? Which affiliate programs are best? Are banners really less effective than text links?”
My thoughts came flowing… this is not a guide or lesson – just some of my thoughts.
It depends on your niche(s) and web site themes, so there are no fixed answers for the best affiliate programs, however the idea is to stay away from LOW payouts and low percentage of sales – a 5 or 10% commission is generally just not worth promoting unless you are easily selling something for $1,000. or more.
How hard is it to get that payout??? Do you have to work hard for it?
In most cases – getting conversions requires work – so larger payouts are generally a safer bet and often require the same amount of work or less.
This all changes if you have HUGE TRAFFIC NUMBERS to work with. But then again – it also depends if the traffic is highky targeted or not.
Sure – you can make money promoting free smiley giveaways with a $1.75 payout per lead – but ONLY if you have HUGE traffic – because it is very unlikely you have a web page or site that is smiley targeted and gets huge traffic.
General – mainstream – untargeted traffic is not bad to have – but your conversion rates will be muc less and you will need to work pretty hard to find something that converts. Not everything will.
Unless you have insane volume and huge traffic numbers, it’s very hard to make money off pennies, dimes or even dollar payouts. That said – if you can get a lot of conversions very easily with an IRRESISTABLE OFFER for little effort or money spent – that’s different. But it’s a rarity.
In all honesty – it’s pretty much a crapshoot. You need to throw stuff out there to see what converts and what sells.
That is why I often have difficulty giving training with specifics. The variables always make things hard to pin down. There are so many variables.
What kind of traffic. What are they visiting for? Are there looking for information on a broad topic or a specific tight keyword phrase???
While it never hurts to have a large amount of untargeted traffic – it is almost always preferable to have some or even a LITTLE traffic that is VERY TARGETED – because you can find something that is more likely to convert. Match a product that is what that visitor needs and you will have higher conversions.

I’ve been taking a lot of training and have learned about some great methods to boost conversions and make more sales!
This video promo tactic applies to both PPC and Natural Traffic and Free Search Traffic.
A great way to get MORE PEOPLE to buy your stuff or click on things is by explaining to them exactly what have and what you want them to do

OK – so why not create a video and tell your visitors what you have and what you want them to do??? It’s so easy!
People love to watch videos and you can help them understand what you have and why they need it.
Ideally you do this in a video. You show them!
This also applies to preselling them with copy on a web page instead of a video – but videos are easy to do and are very persuasive. People don’t always read copy… they skim…
The general idea is you find an offer to promote and then you create a web page with a video and you tell your visitors what you have and what you want them to do.
If you do it right – a lot of people will do what you asked.
Your conversions will be very high.
Much higher than if you HIDE the offer or don’t attmpt to PRESELL the prospect :’>
Remember the old saying – ask and you shall receive???
Well – if you don’t ask – you won’t get anything!
So go ahead and tell people what you have and what you want them to do.

Clickbank Tracking Subid can be up to 24 Characters Long
Clickbank Tracking Subid max length can be up to 24 Characters Long – not limited to 8 as most sites tell you.
OK… I have been running into conflicting info regarding the maximum number of characters you are allowed to include in the subid for tracking your Clickbank Affiliate URL (hoplink).
Almost everything I see out there says 8 MAX but NOT ACCORDING to CLICKBANK! They say you can have up to 24 characters – after which they will truncate the subid. NOW that’s more like it! 8 is not enough! 24 should be just fine!
Although ME personally – I hate LIMITS of any kind!
I’d rather see smething more open ended but hey – I guess some people could potentially abuse it and cause extra processing – so in this case 24 makes sense – but 8 – NO WAY!
EIGHT is simply TOO LIMITING! What if you want to include a site name and a category identifier??? 8 is not enough!
Fortunately Clickbank says we can use up to 24 characters!

Amazon.com has a great associates program and while I haven’t been doing as much recently with it as I had done in the past – it is still lucrative and brings me in some decent money on a regular basis. Best thing about my amazon earnings is I don’t do any new work for it – it’s old work (passive income) that still pays me money over time!
As you may have heard Amazon Associates will have some new rules to be playing by… originally I was more concerned, but just found some clarification. As far as I can tell it’s not so bad.
When I heard there were changes for associates and that they were no longer paying on some referral fees I was concerned. What is their new policy???
I just found this and thought you may be interested in this clarification of what they are doing in regards to PPC advertising by associates.
As far as I can tell – it is ONLY direct linking they are trying to stop paying on… we can still do landing pages.

“Q: How do I know if this change will affect me?
A: If you are using paid search advertising services like Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing or Microsoft adCenter to send users directly to the www.amazon.ca, www.amazon.com or www.endless.com website, this change will affect you. If your own website has links to Amazon’s US or Canadian sites and you are using these or other similar services to send users to your own website, you should not be affected by this change as long as you comply with all terms of the Operating Agreement. “

This mainly affects affiliates who had been using datafeeds and such to do direct linking and running ads on PPC.
So – at least we now know they will still pay if the users come from our sites or landing pages… my question is – do you think amazon will be profitable with a PRESELL page if we can’t do direct linking via PPC???

It’s getting close to Christmas and New Years and that means that sales, clicks, transactions and online activity in general will start going through the roof very soon.
It also means that many people and businesses will be in a state of chaos and will be distracted with many folks disappearing to go gift shopping, decorating, fooling around, or go away on vacation for the holidays.
That means that the next few days and possibly into next week will be the quiet time before the “online storm”.
From past experience I usually see a huge spike occur right around the 26th of December (day after Christmas) and it continues through all of January. It’s a wonderful thing for those of us that make our living online!
January has always been my best month for making money online (for over 12 years now) and the one I earn the most in. December and April are usually the next most profitable. So don’t worry if December is passing you by, because January is a monster and after a brief slowdown in February it will stay busy until April when it will once again peak and explode! After that – May starts the slowdown until Summer hits when many online businesses have the least activity (not all – some seasonal businesses have other peak months).
Now is the time to work hard and plan for the surge in activity that is coming at us!

Do you have web pages up and indexed by Google that have the words that people will be searching for???
For those of us selling infoproducts, eBooks and affiliate products online, there will be a huge amount of newbies with computers who will be looking for information and more importantly to buy things!

Create keyword rich web pages that have information about the products and services that you know the new computer owners (and cell phone owners and high tech gadget owners) will be seeking out.
Make sure your keyword loaded article web pages have relevant links to affiliate products so that you get a commission when they buy!
