Internet Marketing and Better Backlinks - Different? Better? Find out why.
News and information for online web publishing professionals!
Yes. It’s true. It just happened to me!
If you have blogs hosted on free platforms your links may not be counting… They may be tricking you and not allowing the blogs to be indexed by search engines.
I just found out that a standard free blog on Edublogs.org is not able to be indexed by Google.
Yes that is correct. My free hosted blog with really good articles posted over the past year which had backlinks was NOT to be found on Google. At least NOT the content.
That means my links were worthless! I am so pissed! What a waste of time.
It appears that in the ADMIN section of my free hosted edublogs.org blog under the settings for reading (privacy settings) the section is hard coded to “Discourage search engines from indexing this site”
You can’t change it to allow indexing by Google. It’s hard coded.
That’s B.S. What a scam.
And the ONLY way to change this option to HIDE YOUR CONTENT is to UPGRADE and buy a MONTHLY PLAN on Edublogs for $5.95 a month.
Now who would be foolish enough to PAY to get links on edublogs??? Not us!
So I am angry that I have been wasting my time posting content and links that are not even available on Google. Man – if I didn’t search to verify my articles were being found on Google I would never have caught this.
One more reason that it is a huge time waster to trust free hosted blogs to post articles and links. You just don’t know what they’ll do.
In the case of wordpress.com and tumblr.com which offer free hosted blogs – they might delete your blogs out of the blue like they did mine and others I know.
Now for those of you thinking I had been spamming – think again – these were all good quality blogs with original content. Valuable to people.
Oh well – one more reason for joining a good dependable blog network like Blogging Underground that is friendly to marketers. Unlike free hosted blogs which are worthless or risky, posting articles on the BU blog network is a smart move.
You can count on your articles being published properly and that they will help you rank higher.
Oh well… if you have any edublogs you may want to check and see if your content is indexed. For that matter all free hosted blogs should be checked. They may not be delivering what you expect.

Links still work to help you rank – but they must be indexed or they do not count!
Best wishes for your online success!
