New! Internet Marketing and Better Backlinks - Different? Better? Find out why.

News and information for online web publishing professionals!

Change is GOOD but Damn that penguin!

Is there an angry Penguin bearing down on you?

Change is GOOD (but Damn that penguin!)

Hi, it’s Mike Liebner here with a few words on the ever changing SEO landscape.

There has been a lot of confusion and misinformation going around these days regarding changes Google has made to their search engine results. It started about a month ago with the deindexing of a lot of websites and once again the past week with new changes how Google is ranking websites in search results.

A lot of confused people are speculating about things that don’t have any real world proof of and are passing the info around as if it is factual.

Google loves when people pass around all kinds of bad intelligence because the NOISE helps make it more confusing for SEO type people to “manipulate Google” for top rankings.

It’s understanding to expect that Google wants to show good results, but the problem is that when major changes such as with this so called Penguin update affect so many legitimate websites and businesses, that people start to yell and scream and panic.

There are actually petitions being passed around to demand that Google do something to fix what they just did.

Good luck with that!

Here is the Google Penguin petition if you want to read it.

I suggest instead of hoping that someone else will FIX the problems you may have encountered that you accept a little responsibility and put some effort into finding out the solutions to any losses that you may have incurred from the algo changes.

Try to focus on what you know is really happening – ideally to you and your sites – and don’t make too many assumptions unless you see for yourself they are indeed fact based conclusions.

If you were impacted by the changes Google has been making I sincerely believe you can make changes and do some sensible things to get things back on track.

Now, first off – if you’re in this web publishing thing for the long haul, which I am, you need to adopt an attitude of confidence in your abilities to do better than most other people who plain and simple do not belong here.

We can beat them even IF the rules change. So do not give up.

Simply do what it takes to get back on top.

So what has happened? Has Google made changes to intentionally rub out small timers like you and me? Are they trying to favor the fat cat established authority sites and big corporations and edge out the little guys from the top of the search engines? (continued – read more of this article…)

Best Ways To Monetize a Website

Very often I get asked ”what is the best way to monetize a web site?”

The reasoning behind the proper monetization of a website deserves a lot more attention than an article – but I’ll try my best to explain the theory here and offer suggestions on the best ways to make money online monetizing your websites.

There isn’t just one way of monetization that is right for every site.

In fact – part of the reason the Blogging Underground 12 Step Success Strategy works so well is that we spend a good deal of time up front researching the exact keywords our web sites are going to target to bring in traffic.

That’s why we call Blogging Underground a Targeted Traffic System.

We can then find keywords that have the best opportunities and match our monetization to the web site we build and the keywords we target in our articles.

If you’re smart you will target high volume big click exact match keywords that you know how to profit from BEFORE you even buy your domain name.

Already have a site up and running that needs help making more money?

Well – first off it helps to have a site that is laser targeted on one topic. The more laser targeted the better job you can do of matching content to the things you monetize your site with.

Obviously a “work at home” or “make money online” web site is going to do better with related products and will do less well with mainstream or general products.

Don’t try to sell a weight loss ebook on a make money blog.

It will not convert as well as a book on making money online.

So what are some good ways to make money with your web site?

Create your own product. An ebook or digital product perhaps.

The best way to make money from your site is to analyze the traffic you are getting from keywords (or expect to be getting) and build pages for that specific traffic – each promoting your product in a very specific way BUT in relation to what’s on the page.

Try to match the way the product you are promoting relates to the words on the page.

Tailor your banners or product features to satisfy what is covered on the page.

The same banner on every page will NOT do as well as when they are customized to match the content.

Your CONVERSIONS will go up and you’ll make more money.

If it’s FREE TRAFFIC you’re getting be sure to analyze your search engine referrer stats to see what keywords are bringing people to your pages.

EACH URL on your site will have referrers for different keywords bringing in the targeted traffic from Google search.

Targeted traffic converts better. Know your targets!

Identify the keywords and see if you are properly matching your product pitch to give the people exactly what they came for.

Fluctuating Rankings on Google

Rankings fluctuate more on new sites that have not yet earned authority status.

It’s pretty normal for a new site to go up in rankings and then come back down. It’s not unusual.

The best way to get your site to stabilize is by earning trust as explained in my new article Fluctuating Rankings

Stop by and check out the article and if you can please leave a comment!

Also, in case you missed it – I posted the replay from the “Achieving Critical Mass ” webinar event along with a special double bonus offer when you join Blogging Underground.

Boost Email Open Rates

6 Simple Ways To Boost Your Email Open Rates

With email marketing, an important challenge that faces the sender is to get the message delivered reliably to the recipient’s inbox and then noticed, opened and read. Email open rates measure this efficiency.

No matter how good your email open rates are, there are ways to improve them. And there are many different ways to boost your open rate. While some are quick fix solutions that start working almost immediately, the more reliable and long-lasting ones take a little longer to kick in.

Let’s look at ways to improve your email open rates.

Changes That Create An Immediate Effect

1. Email Subject Lines

In email, the subject line is equivalent to a headline for sales letters. It is the factor that, above everything else, impacts open rates of email. Bad or poorly targeted subject lines will leave your audience cold and unresponsive. Ones that speak to their deepest problems or desires elicit the opposite reaction.

Along with the subject line, other elements that show up in the recipient’s inbox, such as the ‘From’ line, can also have an effect on email open rates. If your name is one the recipient recognizes, the chances of your email getting noticed, opened and read go up steeply.

2. Timing of Your Emails (continued – read more of this article…)

Buying Lots of Stuff Is Not Required to Achieve Success

I often get asked by people who are planning to join Blogging Underground for suggestions on other things they’ll need to buy to help them achieve success.

Buying a lot of stuff is NOT REQUIRED!

While I will pass along suggestions for good stuff when I run into it, I would like to stress that the system I have developed called the 12 Step Success Strategy System works like a charm if you follow it without getting distracted by other time wasters.

My strategy works  like a charm! It does not require any additional purchases other than a Blogging Underground membership itself.

Everything you need is included to help get lots of targeted traffic without the need to get other tools or services.

The fact that you have 480+ blogs that you can get in-content backlinks in itself is almost enough to work on it’s own. Combined with my strategies it’s really easy to get to what I call Critical Mass and get sites that get top rankings for all kinds of big money keywords!

I’m not saying you can’t or shouldn’t use other tools or buy software and plugins – but it is not necessary.

Everything you need to achieve success and build web sites that get lots of targeted traffic is included with a BU membership or is available for free or very little expense – like buying a domain name – or getting a cheap hosting account.

Buy a keyword domain name – get a cheap but good web host and build a nice WordPress blog on it and follow the steps in the 12 Steps training.

This stuff really works!

The steps are shown in great detail in the 12 Step Success Strategy System that members have access too. The training shows the important stuff and nothing additional other than BU, a domain name and hosting is required. No additional software or programs. (continued – read more of this article…)

3 Critical Mistakes That Can Hold You Back From Winning

3 Critical Mistakes That Can Hold You Back From Winning

As entrepreneurs seeking to find our way ahead in the rough and tumble marketplace that’s the World Wide Web, we often find ourselves in a constant struggle between various forces.  Some are motivational and inspiring, and they power us towards our dreams.  Others are distracting and wasteful, and those are the ones that can hold you back from winning.

Many years ago, when I did an extended mentorship under the world’s best marketing guru, Jay Abraham, something he said on the introductory call stuck firmly in my mind.  He said that it was his ethical obligation to NOT let us do something if he knew there was another way to do it better, easier, quicker and more effectively.

That, in essence, is what any mentor can guide you with in this fascinating (if complex) journey of building an online business.  My specialty is information marketing.  And there are many nuances to setting up and growing an Internet infopreneur business.  There are ways to do it quickly, efficiently – and there are pitfalls that can hinder and slow down progress.

In this post, I’d like to focus on 3 of the most critical ones that have the potential to completely sabotage your success and destroy your hopes and ambitions – if you let it happen.

1. Shiny New Things

In the Internet marketing niche, things evolve at warp speed.  Almost every day, something has changed.  New technology alters the playing field.  New start ups shake up the marketplace.  New trends and innovations grab the attention of masses.  (continued – read more of this article…)

Big Money Blogs and My Success Strategy

I have some killer training at Blogging Underground to build blogs that make money and I call it the 12 Step Success Strategy.

From time to time members ask questions and I will also share them here on my Internet Marketing Blog. Check out some recent advice. I think you’ll get some good tips to help you build blogs that make money!

Is it good to start off a new site with a bang and add LOTS of content very quickly???

As I show in the 12 Step Success Strategy training I prefer to do things over time. Ideally you add pages 1 at a time – get your links – add more over time – so there is consistent growth.

I have added MANY pages to a site in the past but they usually get sandboxed. I have seen the slow and steady way works better – they usally do not have any trouble. You slowly gain trust and that MAGIC happens more and easier as you gain trust and establish your reputation as being solid and good.

Once you stop fluctuating you can add more faster and break more rules – but a new site needs to earn trust – old sites that have done evil things also may trigger alarms.

Contribute your BLOG to the BU announcement blogs network!

It’s easy! You can have BU members posting high quality content that will keep your blog FRESH and bring more traffic from more top rankings! DO IT! You’ll be glad you did!

Will there be a sandbox effect if you follow the 12 Step Success Stratgey training?

There should be no sandbox effect if you are follwoing the 12 steps and not hammering anything or blasting. (continued – read more of this article…)

Secret to Success – Ignoring the Noise!

Some things never change. For example I have found the secret to success is focusing on the really important stuff and not letting the noise get the best of you. Don’t let the distractions slow you down. Keep your eye on the prize and do what is needed to win!

There will always be noise out there waiting to get your attention – but you have a choice – focus your energy on something that would be more productive.

I have learned to do that for the most part – however it is always a challenge.

Also – there are things in life that present new challenges – so it never really gets too easy.

Funny but I just flashed back and can almost imagine the feeling of both joy and frustration I had in the early days back in 96 or 97 so when I was discovering how easy it was to make money doing the internet thing.

These days it’s mostly joy and a lot less frustration – but it’s still out there!

It’s funny – I just had a flash back to when I first started doing this internet thing and I was so into it and it was overwhelming how much money was coming in. Practically all I wanted to do was work to get more number one top rankings! It was an addiction. An obsession. Back then it was truly like shooting fish in a barrel! I was one of the few people doing it and there was a mad rush to grab all that I could!

Once I got a taste of the feeling of success and I figured out how to get more of it – that’s all I wanted to do!

When I first discovered the only limit to how much I could make was how much I threw out there I was on a mad mission to get as many web sites up as I could. I could barely sleep. All I wanted to do was hammer away and get more #1 top rankings. I was addicted to the success.

I discovered many tricks and shortcuts. It was the wild west and I continually found ways to get work done faster and more efficiently. I was getting really good at deciding what was most important to do – and what was wasting my time and not bringing me a return.

I don’t know why, but I can vividly remember when I was in line at a grocery store and I was feeling very impatient. I was so frustrated that I had to wait. All the lines in the store were so long and everything seemed to be in slow motion and it felt like it was such a huge waste of time.

I remember feeling trapped and helpless because at that point in time I had just figured out the fast way to success and I was starting to get so accustomed to finding new shortcuts and getting results faster and discovering new ways to get on top of the search engines.

I was in a mad rush to make all the money I could and I became really good at multitasking and so forth.

And here I was in line at the supermarket and I was stuck. I felt this slow motion grocery store thing didn’t offer any possibilities to help get me out the door faster.

I couldn’t find a solution to make it faster – but I did find a way to make use of that wasted time – next time I brought something with me to read while I was waiting in line. Probably the Planet Ocean SEO newsletter or something like that. There was so much new exciting info. It was a matter of finding out the hot trick that worked right now.

There was an especially mad rush because you never knew how long that TRICK would work before someone plugged the hole and the trick or secret tactic stopped working. It was a crazy time

It was crazy – I used to print out stuff and read it while waiting in line at the store or while eating lunch out etc. so I could at least keep up on all the trick seo things that would get me on top faster!

I settled down and relaxed more eventually but I still fondly remember those early days when it felt like every minute not hammering away was losing money.

I’m much more relaxed now and haven’t been doing that for along time. In fact I pretty much stopped reading stuff at meals a long time ago and try to enjoy life more.

I’m a bit more patient but very often I still wish that LIFE could have a fast forward button like my Tivo does. I’d skip the noise and fast forward to the good stuff!

Opt in – or – opt out from newsletters?

Internet Marketing related newsletters can be a great source of information. I try to keep on top of what other people in my business are doing.

Yes – I know – a lot of the “email lists” from gurus are mostly sending out junk or selling stuff. I agree those suck and those kinds of emails are a big waste of time!

However – a LOT of the email I get from internet marketers lists I have opted in to receive emails from give me ideas and often actually inspire me!

I think it’s good to be aware and newsletters are a great way to keep on top of what is coming out and going down in our business!

 Not everyone feels this way.

I just saw a member post in the Blogging Underground members forum giving advice to “resign from all the other marketing lists you happen to be on”.

He also said “Get rid of all those emails that are hurting your plan and keeping you from being laser focused on your plan.”

I’m not sure that is the best way to put it… I do not agree completely.

It’s good advice to try and focus on doing the things that bring you the greatest return on your efforts – so it is good to spend LESS time with email in general – that is good sensible advice!

BUT that doesn’t mean you should cut yourself off from what is going on and get OFF of all marketing email lists. You can learn a lot from those emails!

I have long heard people give advice to opt out of all newsletter and email lists and for me – it’s not good advice. :?

People who are informed and knowledgeable are more likely to succeed. The more you know – the more opportunity there is.

Personally I feel if you are serious about what you do and want to be an expert in your industry you need to absorb everything you can and be aware of as much as possible if it relates to what you do to make a living.

I personally try to get on almost every list I can (if it’s in my industry) so I can keep up and be aware of what other people in my industry are doing.

If I get spammed or INSULTED by what someone sends me I will OPT OUT for sure. But even then I learn a valuable lesson and am reminded what NOT to do to people on my lists – so it was worth opting in.

I also use FILTERS in gmail and for the most part only get exposed to important stuff UNLESS I go digging into my folders.

I try to NOT waste too much time reading email UNLESS I am looking for something or want to see what people in my biz are doing.

If you use FILTERS properly you can sign up to as much as you want.

I’m not suggesting you waste time or follow many different peoples advice or training – but I do think you’ll be well served by keeping on top of what is going on in marketing and occasionally reading the emails being sent out there – especially if you have web sites that try to sell things. :o

Now before you try to set me straight – remember I am the guy that brought you the whole over-analysis paralysis discussion over 5 years ago along the phrase information overload and all that stuff.

>>> Over Analysis Paralysis – stop wasting time!

I still believe that – but – for me – I would rather KNOW what is going on if it relates to my business.

Newsletters are free and often give a great insight to trends in our business.

I suggest you learn to FILTER better rather than OPT OUT :)

Are you using the widget on your WordPress blog that allows you to show external RSS feed content?

I just created a new how to video on the WordPress RSS widget which I posted at my WP SEO News blog.

Google Top Rankings Screenshots

Look I’m ranking # 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and even #7 on Google!

It’s nice to see what we are doing is working! Google loves my site!

I want to share some screenshots with you that shows a current example of how one of my sites is hitting Critical Mass on Google.

Take a look at the screenshots that I just took of my site on Google

The screenshots show how this simple neglected example site, which I built from the ground up in the Blogging Underground training videos, is dominating Google!

Have you ever had the top 5, 6 or 7 spots on Google for a high profit high volume keyword?

This is what happens when our sites hit CRITICAL MASS and Google falls in love with them!

That’s the kind of stuff we do here at Blogging Underground!

I also show you the Google Analytics info for the site along with the Adwords data so you can see the whole picture of what it looks like when we dominate Google! See for yourself! Google loves this site!

Exact Match Data or Broad? Which is better?

Look at the keyword research data on this screen capture from the Google Adwords keyword tool and then tell me the answer to this question:

“Which is better to use for analyzing potential traffic when creating your primary target keyword – “exact match” or broad match???

see FULL size version

Open keyword research data FULL SIZE in a new window

Do you see how the broad match search volume for medicine sports is so high – yet the “exact match” is so low???

If you asked me – this keyword – medicine sports – would be a BAD primary target keyword.

If you get a top ranking for medicine sports you are NOT going to get the broad match traffic.

The exact match traffic is what that backwards keyword really gets!

I personally feel that I would rather look at the EXACT data representing the exact search as it is typed in by the searcher.

That’s how Google looks at it.

Broad match does not reflect the volume that a keywords will get with a top ranking  – only EXACT MATCH accurate indicates potential volume for a top ranking.

The “exact match” data more accurately reflects what the target is capable of in volume becase it does not include all the other possibilities that borat, er, I mean broad match includes.

If you only look at broad match data it is deceiving. Even if you get #1 for medicine sports it will NOT bring you very much traffic. In fact that 170 volume is pretty low.

You don’t get rich by getting number one for low volume keywords.
Take the above example and compare the Global Search Volume for

medicine sports

which has a broad match volume of 368,000 which seems very high.

If you change the Google Adwords setting to “exact match” however the gloabl monthly search volume drops to 170 – yikes!

And for me – 170 just isn’t enough to justify making it my primary target keyword.

The reason it dropped to 170 from 368,000 is that the PHRASE is backwards. (continued – read more of this article…)

Look at my blog which is # 1 on Google!

Look at my blog which is # 1 on Google! I’ll show it to you!

Hi, it’s Mike Liebner here, the internet marketing guy and it’s been really crazy this past week since opening the doors for the official launch of  Blogging Underground! I’ve done so much work packed into such a short amount of time – but – hey – it’s worth it as Blogging Underground now has more members than ever and it’s still going nuts one week into the launch!

Now, I know most internet marketers are weary about sharing their websites and showing you actual top rankings, but I am going to show you one of my sites which is currently number one for a good volume “exact match” keyword with high profitability.

I have a free 48 minute video download for you where I go to Google and look up my keyword and show you my site which is ranked number one! Then I show you how YOU can do it too!

Please register for my Blogs Equal Money Newsletter and I will send it to you immediately!

In the “Link Your Way To The Top”  video I show you my actual dog blog which is ranking #1 on Google and I give you the full lowdown on what you need to do to get top rankings just like this any time you want! I show you the site and tell you what I did so you can do it too! It’s much easier than you may realize if you get a couple of things right!

I’m not afraid to do this because my site DESERVES to be number one and the way we get top rankings at Blogging Underground is not evil or something you’d be afraid to tell GRAMMA about! – inside joke – if you wouldn’t want to tell your Grandma how you did it – it can’t be something you’d be proud of!

I’d share this with Gramma for sure! No guilt!

So… I got to number one by creating a good site that serves the target keyword phrase and has a small amount of links pointing at it from some of the Blogging Undergound “announcement blogs”.

Nothing too complex. It was easy! Anyone can do this!

Is it a great site that should win awards? NO! But it serves the target keyword well and I am sure Google is more than happy to keep it at number one because people who click on my page linked on top of Google will be happy with the content they get. (continued – read more of this article…)

Blogging Underground Pre-Launch Buzz!

Wow! The official grand opening launch of Blogging Underground is less than 2 days away (It opens on Tuesday April 26th, 2011).

Here is a PRE-LAUNCH VIDEO with a preview of the “Link Your Way To The Top” training videos and PDF I will releasing at the grand opening.

Things are really getting crazy for me as I prepare for the big official launch!

I know it’s insane out there because I have Google alerts and am amazed at all the people putting up stuff about me and BU! I’ve never had that happen on this level and am really impressed and excited with all the folks getting behind it!

I’m also thrilled because since I announced the official launch date back in late March I have had over 400 brand new registrations for my Super Affiliate Center! That just blows me away! I am thrilled and excited so many people are getting ready to promote Blogging Underground as an affiliate!

If you haven’t yet regsitered for free to get access to the Super Affiliate Center you can find all the details and registration link here.

I’m having a crazy JV sales contest with iPad2′s as the prizes! BUT this contest is really different than most JV contests  because it’s not just ONE iPad I am giving away – but rather MANY iPads – as the level to win one is ridiculously low for those that register as a JV Partner and promote Blogging Underground!

If you have a list of subscribers or customers and have not yet registerered – you must do it - this is a rare opportunity to make some big commission money and win an easy prize if your people dig Blogging Underground and join!

OK – so while I am thrilled about this crazy level of activity – I’m also a little worried because I have never ever done a launch with this many people ready to promote it.

I wrote in the BU Blog the other day that I am going to limit the number of people that can join Blogging Underground and that I am expecting to raise the price and close the doors when I hit capacity.

Well – I’m already getting email accsuing me of creating “false uregency” and I just gotta say that’s absolutely NOT true! Hey – I am a marketer but I’m just being honest about the capacity and how many members I can handle before things start blowing up!

Trust me – I’m going to expand capacity as much as I can to make sure all the affiliates promoting Blogging Undeground can make a good amount of commissions and not get stuck promoting something with a SOLD OUT sign – BUT –  in this case – there really is a THRESHOLD where I must shut the doors!

Please don’t worry about it yet – we’re not there – but just be aware that I am on top of this and need to make sure the member experience is a good one for all that join.

This launch thing is very exciting and I don’t really know what to expect – but of the pre-launch buzz is any indication – this thing could really go nuclear! So to be safe – I’m doing everything I can to make sure we can expand resources and handle the traffic!

If you want to read more about this issue of scarcity and price increase talk - you can check out my response to an email I got which I posted at the FAQ page at BU.

Here it is:

Q: I just saw in your blog that you are going to limit how many members you are going to accept after you re-open and also that you will be raising the price. Is this for real or just a marketing ploy to get me to join now and if so – how many members are you going to accept before closing it and WHEN will the price go up? I need to know something more specific.

A: Great question! I can appreciate how you might be skeptical with all the marketing products out there creating FALSE urgency and scarcity so you buy their stuff. I’m not doing that! It really is very likely we’re going to shut the doors again – most likely soon – but I can’t put a number on it  or give it a date. It’d be a fake number if I did that.

I have to say that because I want to be up front and let everyone know we do NOT have an unlimited capacity. There is a limit to how many members we can serve at a premium level and I know we’re going to hit it – I just can’t say we’re there until we get to that point.

All I can say is that we have a killer set up which is running very well and I know we can serve a large number of new members, but – if things get weird or too crowded or unmanageable I am fully prepared to stop accepting new members when I see the resources are being stretched thin.

The first step will be increasing the price – so those that really NEED to get in won’t be locked out. But shortly after doing that the doors will need to be closed.

If you dig what we have – I suggest you join now to lock in the best price and if you ever need to cancel – that’s cool – we won’t delete any of your links or data – and we’ll keep a spot open for you at the same price when you’re ready to come back.

IE 9 Warning: Do NOT Upgrade your Browser Yet!

IE 9 UPDATE PROBLEM Warning on Saturday, April 9, 2011

I’m posting this in Firefox because the new update to IE 9 is so screwed up I can’t post in WordPress with IE!

Hey, it’s Mike Liebner here from Blogging Underground and I have an important news flash for you about the newest lame version update for Internet Explorer that is causing all kinds of odd sporadic problems and one big one with WordPress blogs.

Sorry for the scary warning headline – but you have got to be aware of this if you use Internet Explorer (IE) as your browser! If you automatically install Windows updates it may be too late! It’s possible this may be fixed by the time you read this – so be aware that the current version MIGHT or MIGHT NOT work properly or there may be a fix or workaround.

Yesterday morning, on my first day back after a short vacation, I turned on my desktop PC after being away for a few days and it had a message flash saying there was an important update for Windows 7. I usually pay more attention and look to see what exactly they’re saying needs updating, but this time I just clicked INSTALL UPDATES and went to make my morning coffee and juice.

Usually I can trust that Windows 7 updates are going to work just fine, so I haven’t postponed updating for the most part when they have something new for my desktop pc – but this time I am getting burned and I know that you guys are going to get burned too, so that’s why I am warning you NOT to do the IE Update to Version 9 yet until they get it right (they better!).

So what exactly happened? OK – let me explain.

Apparently Windows upgraded my Internet Explorer to a new version 9.0.8112.16421

I guess I had version 8. I never really paid attention. (continued – read more of this article…)

Google Search Engine Algorithm Changes

I’m still getting lots of emails and articles sent to me about the well publicized “Google Alogorhytm Change” from a week agoo (Feb. 24, 2011) that is supposedly affecting and hurting some sites and webmasters – especially those who rely very heavily on article marketing to make a living.

1st off – let me say that you should NOT worry or be more concerned about this UPDATE than any OTHER update because the fact is Google is CONSTANTLY changing how it ranks sites and web pages – it happens regularly.

The main difference that I can see is that a few high profile “article sites” that are pretty darn big – maybe even TOO BIG – such as ezinearticles.com, buzzle, associated content, squidoo and hubpages in particlular – have been said to have a significant reduction in traffic from Google because THEIR rankings have dropped.

So what!

It may open up more slots for us and our high quality real content web pages!

Unless it is affecting you personally and you have seen TRAFFIC go down – keep in mind almost every time something GOES DOWN that something else will GO UP! So – do not stress out about this!

Is it affecting ME personally?
NO! I can’t say it is. I have seen ONE of my big money keywords DROP off the front page onto page 2 – but I have so many of them that ONE alone is nothing to worry about and may not be related to the changes.

Hardly anything at all has changed for me and my sites. I’m still doing very well!

Traffic numbers are the SAME overall.

Plus – this kind of stuff happens day to day so who is to say this is even related to the BIG CHANGE???

One of the things I teach people is that you need to diversify and not put all your apples in one basket.

If all you do to make a living is submitting your articles to ezinearticles, you might be in trouble! If you have your own sites that deliver value to the end user and you are NOT a one trick pony – you will be fine!

If you have more than one site or better yet several or many and you mix things up and deliver value to the user – you should not be impacted very much or even at all by the recent changes at Google.

If your sites offer real value with good site structure and no dirty tricks you should be fine – perhaps even better off as more slots are opening for you to rank in easier.

Google still wants good sites with value to rank on top. That’s exactly what we do – right? They just want a few sites in particular that offer LESS VALUE to rank on top LESS OFTEN!

I think that’s good!

So what are the changes that Google has made in ranking sites???

Who knows for sure. Also – it is NOT affecting ALL RANKINGS.

I have checked and I still have the number one position for my most important sites that I have been working hard to keep on top. No drastic or radical change there.

As far as I can tell Google has made a decison to devalue pages from certain kinds of sites – they happen to be some of the BIGGEST article sites – mainly ezinearticles.com as I hear them crying the loudest right now. (continued – read more of this article…)

If it aint broke – don’t fix it!

If it aint broke – don’t fix it! Don’t do it!

Don’t change your blog or web site UNLESS it is an absolute mess and is totally utterly WORTHLESS!

OK – I just had to get these words of wisdom out there because I get many questions that ask me about FIXING sites based on what I cover in my training.

Hey! If you already have a site and it’s doing OK or maybe even just starting out – there is no reason to consider making any drastic changes based on my suggestions – such as site structure and my revolutionary “Pages NOT Posts” strategy.

I know Pages Not Posts is very compelling and it makes sense to structure a new site that way – but there is no need to run out and rebuild your OLD existing sites!

Be careful about “starting over” or “changing” your blog too much… Be careful deleting posts or pages or adding nofollow to archives, tag pages, categories etc. There is no need to do “no index” for parts of your site if you have a good functional web site that is getting indexed by Google!

The best way to make more money is by following the path of least resistance and focusing efforts on the things that bring the greatest amount of return.
Generally – fixing things or tweaking them is going to be less monumental than creating something new that is truly awesome!

So – consider that a lot of the things we do is “busy work”. It’s noodling. It’s working for works sake. It’s not always a great way to make more money.

I need to convey what my philosophy is and hopefully stop you from doing unnecessary work!

NEVER do work OVER again that you have already done UNLESS it is absolutely necessary.

You need to focus on doing things that will make you more money! Not do busy work to fix old stuff. I’m not saying NEVER fix old stuff – but that generally that is not the best way to make money!

OK – so let’s put this in perspective.

I know that the new “Pages NOT Posts” site strategy is connecting with a lot of people and a lot of you are excited about what it can do for you – BUT – I would be careful NOT to look backwards and want to apply it to your older sites 100%

It’s mainly for your new sites. Build sites from the ground up the best way you can!

Let me explain…

New sites – go for it! Do it! Pages not Posts makes sense!

Make your home page a static page – and put your best articles on PAGES (not posts) and then go announce your new pages in POSTS!

“Pages NOT Posts” works as a site structure and linking strategy and will get your new blog many more top rankings faster and easier than ever and you’ll be glad you did it!

Old sites – don’t do it!

Well – you CAN start using PAGES more on your old sites – add your best stuff to pages using your best content and then announcing them with POSTS in your blog.

Pages and posts work together – both are better – even on an old blog! But hey there is no need to change the site structure or blog structure on an older site – especially if it is working!

You have already done that work – do not do it again!

Don’t throw a monkey wrench in and change things if you already have many pages indexed. Just build on what you have and then improve future traffic by adding good pages to the existing site and announcing the pages with posts.

OK! I just wanted to make sure you understand PAGES not POSTS is not the ONLY way that works!

Putting your best content on pages and announcing them in posts are great ways to get more top rakings and traffic from your blog and smart to do with NEW sites – but there is no reason to do busy work and fix things by tearing apart old sites – time is better spent creating new stuff!
