Add Your Blog Feeds to My New RSS Directory

Twitter Search? Give me a break!
So what’s all this noise about Twitter Search???
Is there really a TWITTER SEARCH??? Oh… OK – I searched for it on Google and found it.

So what is the big deal about Twitter Search (or is that search twitter?)
It sucks, right???
I keep hearing the web 2.0 gurus out there praising Twitter and on several occasions they proclaimed that Google better watch out becuase Twitter Search is the future.
If you asked me – Twitter itself is lame and Twitter Search is even lamer.
I searched TwitterSearch for best plants for indoor pollution
No results found for my 5 word query??? NONE!
Ohhhhh. was my search above the 160 allowed characters??? Who knows!
Twitter is less as in USELESS and trust me – in this case LESS is not MORE. It’s just less.
Uhhh… do people search for single words anymore? It’s 2010 for Crissakes.
If you want to find out about something other than single words like dogs or cats you better not waste your time on Twitter. Maybe a 2 workd search like “oil spill” but geez – who wants to get their info from Twitter on an oil spill??? I’m sure there are some clever 160 character pieces on that – but geez – not likely :’> Sorry… I’m starting to sound like Andy Rooney.
I mean c’mon – they (Twitter founders) never really thought this thing out – you know the 160 character limit… I mean hey – most of my URL’s take up the bulk of the post and I am usually scrambling to get in what I want to say in as few words as possible because my URL has already snatched up the characters.
Sure – I could get a shorter URL to use – but isn’t that a hassle to do? IT doesn’t exactly encourage spontaneity when you gotta shorten your URL before tweeting.

Site Speed Counts! Slow sites beware!
Is your web site fast enough?
Uh oh… this one kind of slipped in under the radar but get a load of this – GOOGLE announced on April 9th that they are now using site speed to help determine web search rankings!
Yes – Google is obsessed with speed and now it’s more important than ever that you are aware of how fast your pages load.
I’ll put the links to the source material below – but let’s take a look at what Google is telling us:
“Our internal studies show that visitors tend to spend less time on sites that respond slowly, and additional recent data shows that improving site speed also reduces operating costs. For these reasons, we’re now taking site speed into account in our search rankings.”
That’s true. There is nothing worse than a web page that sucks away time as we wait for it to load. (continued – read more of this article…)
Blogs are for Making Money, right???
How many blogs do you have???
Are some of them for business purposes?? What about the “personal blogs”… do you have one of those?
At least one I hope! Ideally several… I have several… that’s good – right?
Blogs are for making money – at least – BUSINESS blogs are for making money.
Personal blogs are for sharing stuff and having fun.
Two different things entirely.
I found out pretty soon after starting this blog – Mike Liebner’s Internet Marketing Blog – my first personal/business blog – that having one “personal blog” simply is not enough!
I initially intended for this blog to be for reinforcing my business identity and credibility as being an expert in internet marketing related topics.
I wanted to discuss topics about doing business online and publish internet marketing articles – BUT - I am also into a lot of other things too.
Like most people – I have a lot of interests. Music, photography, computers, technology etc.
But the topics could NOT coexist together in the same place… at least not while having the max impact I desired. My business oriented intentions needed to have the focus.
Do you want to have a “professional identity”? If yes – a business blog is what you need.
Blogs can have many intended purposes – you can post for fun, pleasure, goofing around or BUSINESS. Not funny bidness but MAKE MONEY BUSINESS. (continued – read more of this article…)

According to Mike Liebner – “it’s true!”
I just ran into that quote today and it struck a chord with me.
I can honestly say that a great part of my success, especially my more recent success, is a direct result of helping people get what they want. It’s part of what I do. I enjoy helping other people.
Now, I’ll go easy on the self-serving, make my self feel good talk, but let me just say that I have been very fortunate in my life and that I am very satisfied with the path I have taken to get me where I am now.
While I do sell a product (with more coming!) I do attribute a great deal of my personal success to the fact that I offer training and assistance and make a lot of it freely available without asking for a penny. I’m happy to help others.
My business revolves around helping other people achieve success as web publishers and internet marketers.
I make available training videos and helpful articles and regularly send out newsletter messages to my mailing list and Words Equal Money subscribers with tips and suggestions on how to do some of these internet marketing type things that can bring us what we want. Which is better: Exact Duplicate Content or Similar?
Should you stay away from using PLR articles because Google hates duplicate content???
It’s not that Google hates duplicate content – after all – they index millions of pages that have duplicate content – so if they hate it – why do they bother indexing it at all???
The “duplicate content penalty” myth has gotten out of control! You really need to be more SPECIFIC when you talk about this stuff or tons of people will get scared and take the poor advice on avoiding duplicate content because they think they will get banned or hit in the face with a brick.
Simply not so.
So – does that mean that Google LOVES duplicate content – or do they just hate it but tolerate it???
I wrote a few articles that will give you insight – I suggest you read them because they have all the dirt! I’ll link them at the bottom, but let’s try to get one of those summary type statements in the mix.
I say that you need to look at it like Google and the other search engines do – they want to rank a page on top – so they do their calculations and stuff and make decisions.
Do they do something DRASTIC when they see a page that looks like another page in their index???
NO! They don’t PENALIZE you just for being similar to another page - but they might penalize you for something else!
Yes, Google most likely prefers content that is NOT “EXACT DUPLICATE CONTENT”!
Ahhhh… so that means similar content is better than EXACT, right???

Super Affiliate Marketing and Higher Commissions
Do you want to be a super affiliate?
An Article Underground member just sent me an email with a few questions about affiliate programs, high ticket items and Adsense. I thought I’d share the info with you guys as well!
“Can you make more money with higher ticket items/higher payouts? Which affiliate programs are best? Are banners really less effective than text links?”
My thoughts came flowing… this is not a guide or lesson – just some of my thoughts.
It depends on your niche(s) and web site themes, so there are no fixed answers for the best affiliate programs, however the idea is to stay away from LOW payouts and low percentage of sales – a 5 or 10% commission is generally just not worth promoting unless you are easily selling something for $1,000. or more.
How hard is it to get that payout??? Do you have to work hard for it?
In most cases – getting conversions requires work – so larger payouts are generally a safer bet and often require the same amount of work or less.
This all changes if you have HUGE TRAFFIC NUMBERS to work with. But then again – it also depends if the traffic is highky targeted or not.
Sure – you can make money promoting free smiley giveaways with a $1.75 payout per lead – but ONLY if you have HUGE traffic – because it is very unlikely you have a web page or site that is smiley targeted and gets huge traffic.
General – mainstream – untargeted traffic is not bad to have – but your conversion rates will be muc less and you will need to work pretty hard to find something that converts. Not everything will.
Unless you have insane volume and huge traffic numbers, it’s very hard to make money off pennies, dimes or even dollar payouts. That said – if you can get a lot of conversions very easily with an IRRESISTABLE OFFER for little effort or money spent – that’s different. But it’s a rarity.
In all honesty – it’s pretty much a crapshoot. You need to throw stuff out there to see what converts and what sells.
That is why I often have difficulty giving training with specifics. The variables always make things hard to pin down. There are so many variables.
What kind of traffic. What are they visiting for? Are there looking for information on a broad topic or a specific tight keyword phrase???
While it never hurts to have a large amount of untargeted traffic – it is almost always preferable to have some or even a LITTLE traffic that is VERY TARGETED – because you can find something that is more likely to convert. Match a product that is what that visitor needs and you will have higher conversions.

Does Google Trust You???
Does Google Trust You??? Or are they watching every little thing you do?
All too often – us “seo types” will rush out and try to grab the big prizes without putting in the proper time and going at a natural pace. I’m guilty of it too on occasion. It’s hard to restrain myself… but I have learned – that when setting up and introducing new domains – sometimes it’s better to back off and take time instead of hammering and cranking fast and furious.
Do you know what I mean?
For example – you don’t want to come out of nowhere and add a zillion pages to a brand new domain.
You don’t want to have TOO MANY backlinks pointing at pages that just were released. An on and on.
That stuff simply is NOT NATURAL and raises flags and alarm buzzers start going off.
Patience and restraint in the world of SEO can go a long way.
We need to be earning our places by doing things the best way – not always the fastest way. Now don’t get me wrong – automation and speed have their places – but unfortunately – that’s something that usually goes hand in hand with hardcore site spamming.
Some tools used in moderation would be fine – but in many cases when you give a person the power – they want to use it and abuse it and that will bring attention to the patterns of the particlular processes. (continued – read more of this article…)

Ideally you want BOTH!
One is not good without the other!
In our quest to build successful web sites with lots of keyword packed content, we often get sidetracked and spend time on things that aren’t really doing much in the way of ROI.
Return on Investment
ROI is not just for ad spending like PPC – it’s also a “return on investment for time spent on a task” or if you like acronyms – let’s call it ROIFTSOAT.
The reason I bring this up is that I regularly see Article Underground members targeting keyword phrases that are either TOO EASY or TOO HARD.
The keywords that are too easy usually bring in very little traffic – even with a number one ranking.
The keywords that are very hard to rank for (on the first page of Google) also usually bring in little or no traffic unless you’re ranked near the top. These ULTRA competitive keywords can be almost impossible to get a top ranking for! Everybody wants to be on page one!
What I am trying to convey here is that it’s not where you RANK or what you are targeting that veryoften will bring in the most traffic and make you the most money.
In fact – if we’d slow down and snoop around our stats a bit we would most likely find that there are MANY keywords bringing us traffic that we have NOT targeted. (continued – read more of this article…)

Google Insights for Search
Google Insights for Search is a great keyword research tool that deserves some attention if you are looking to spot trends and jump on them!

There are a million ways to use Google Insights for Search – it has such great info, but let’s try to use it to help us build a campaign – whether PPC or Natural Organic SEO
Let’s say you want to promote a new product or CPA offer – simply go to Google Insights for Search and type in keywords relating to the product and note 2 columns in particular – Rising Searches and Top Searches (under search terms).
Change the settings to 90 days on Google Insights for Search so you can see the CURRENT trends (it’s set to a few years by default). This will show you keywords that are on the rise. Click those and you’ll be taken to more data. Keep track of the keywords and you’ll have an excellent list of “off the beaten path” keywords that are GROWING as opposed to drooping. Putting Adsense ads on your pages is ok and will bring you a few bucks here and there. I am not saying that is bad – it’s just not always the best way to pull in cash. And promoting products from Clickbank or Commission Junction is ok, but they often cost a lot and require a purchase for you to earn money.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could give away stuff and still get paid???
